McSalad

May 24, 2006

The current special at McDonald’s here is the McSalad. Normally I would order extra large fries and an extra large coke in protest at McD’s doing anything that claims to be healthy, but the Tomato Grilled Chicken Sandwich did look pretty good, so I compromised and ordered a BigMac set, with extra fries, large coke and a Tomato Grilled Chicken sandwich as an aperitif. As you can see, it didn’t look much like their picture, but in fact, it was not too bad. The sauce they’ve used is pretty good (and it’s always the sauce that really makes or breaks a McD’s for me), and the chicken was a not-especially-bad approximation of what real chicken should taste like. I was tempted by the yogurt with berries, but that I feel, would have been a step too far…also the hot girl who works in my local McD’s was starting to look at me as if (she knew) I was a freak, without me ordering that too. Incidentally it’s quite revealing having a hot girl working in McDonalds, as it’s made me realise that you can keep the french maid/school girl/police woman/construction worker costumes…a hot girl in a McDonald’s uniform is what it’s all about.

  1. Yeah man, I also hate it when they find out. However - see it from the bright side: Now when she knows, it’s ok for you to take a photo of her and show us :-)

  2. Theyre almost identical. You should of taken advice from Falling Down and gone on a rampage.
Although I do like “was a not-especially-bad approximation of what real chicken.” You make it sound like McD’s got a group of people together who have not ate chicken and cant cook and said “Make us chicken.”

  3. I tried it too and I thought it was ok…kinda lemony…I get funny looks when I order the Happy Sets sometimes…yeah, yeah…but oh well, I just flash a big smile that says “That’s right…Gimme that HAPPY SET!” ;)

  4. Jonas - Don’t think I’m quite ready to be enough of a wierdo to ask shopworkers if it’s ok to take photos of them just yet! How’s life among the Hun?
Rob: They do look quite similar here…but I think I may have stretched the official McD’s photo a little. Imagine it more rotund! And yeah, I reckon that that kind of meeting does take place in the bowels of McHQ.
Melissa: It was a bit lemony…not that that’s a bad thing! I havent been too taken with any of the happy set toys here yet…if they had a Mario one, I would have no qualms at all about asking for one! They were actually giving the toys away recently at my local McD’s!
